Antarctic living like outer space living?

I’ve been thinking about living in the close environment of a permanent space colony, whether it’s an orbital station or on another planet or planet-like body. The concern lies around the issues related to people living in close quarters for long periods of time separated from all other humans.

Here’s an article on Human Resources issues about working in Antarctica. It focuses from an HR manager’s point of view, but it does have some insights into the issues and types of people who work there. These are the same types of people with the same issues who would be involved in space colonization.

Issues like everyone has to be willing to do any task. And then there’s the “ice marriages” that end in “tarmac divorces.” In other words, once they land in New Zealand, they never see each other again.
