Polar Bears?

TCSDaily has a report on “experts” opinions on polar bear populations.

The report is well worth reading, but here are the high points:

  • Polar bears have survived periods with much warmer temperatures than we are now experiencing or likely to experience in the near future
  • The studies assume that the sea ice predictions of the General Circulation Models is correct. They are not, as they do not deal correctly with what is known about the physics of sea ice.
  • The studies do not use any attempt to follow scientific forecasting procedures

In short, the papers reviewed are invalid as predictors at their most basic level. They should thus be no more acceptable in a scientific community than religious dogma. Alas, science has become so politicized. Must be too much money involved.
